Finding Jerrawangala Lookout
Jerrawangala Lookout is short 30-minute drive out of Nowra. The lookout is found just before Tianjara, where Tianjara Falls are located. Travelling along Braidwood road, you turn right onto the unsealed road called Wandean Rd. The road is accessible by 2wd however, it is strongly recommended that you enter the via 4wd as the roads can become very slippery after rain. You follow this road for approximately 2.5kms before turning right onto Jerrawangala Lookout Road. Here you will find a small car park with picnic tables for a great lunch spot.
Views from Jerrawangala Lookout
From the carpark, you then walk towards the information board. Here you are provided with information about the area, other walks and trails as well as information about local flora and fauna. From here you can follow the metal platform and see the views that this lookout has to offer.
You will be able to see Swan Lake is the distance as well as see all the way to Nowra, Conjola National Park and Jervis Bay National Park. Below the platform, you can see remnants of an old car that has gone over the cliff and to the opposite side you can see a small dark cave. Some people have been known to jump the fence here and climb through the cave to the other side. This is not recommended as there is no safe way up or down from this point.
The vast open views give you the opportunity to spot for Eagles stalking the skies or try and point out other possible walks in the distance. This walk is family friendly and suitable for those in a wheelchair. To return to the car, you come along the same path you entered on and continue back on the main road towards Braidwood. It is possible to continue further along the unsealed road, however, it is recommended that you have a 4wd for this and you and others know where you are headed.
