Tianjara Falls can be found just a short 40kms out of Nowra along Braidwood road. Before reaching the falls, another notable stop is Jerrawangala Lookout. You will find a carpark on your right side of the road when heading towards Braidwood. The carpark is rather large and can accommodate many cars to be parked there at one time. Please note that there are no toilets or facilities found here, nor are there any bins provided. This walk is suitable for everyone and is wheelchair friendly.
Tianjara Falls offers a large viewing platform that overlooks the falls from some distance. Safety fences have been put in place to prevent you from falling from the cliffs edges. Many people do still jump the fence to get a closer look at the top of the falls, which is evident by the number of small trails leading off into the bush. The view shows off the 65m waterfall and also overlooks the Ettrema Wilderness. It is recommended viewing the falls after some heavy rain for more spectacular photo opportunities.
From the top, you can see a large pool at the bottom of Tianjara Falls which looks perfect for swimming. Unfortunately, there are no marked trails that lead you down to the pools below. This spot is extremely popular with rock climbers and other well-equipped adventurers. If you do ever see anyone at the bottom, the chances are that they are professionals who have abseiled to the bottom. If you are a rock climber looking to pitch in this area, please note that bolting is banned.
There is a little water pocket above the waterfall where people sometimes swim when the water is running slow and water levels are not high. This is not recommended as it is extremely dangerous and could be life threatening.
