Natural Bridge Circuit, Springbrook National Park

Natural Bridge Circuit is one of the most memorable short walks in Springbrook National Park, combining subtropical rainforest, a natural rock arch, a waterfall and a cave in one easy loop. Located in the Natural Bridge section of the park, in the beautiful Numinbah Valley, this 1 km return walk takes around 1 hour and is a great option for families, visitors to the Gold Coast hinterland and anyone looking for a short rainforest walk with a big reward.

The circuit begins from the Natural Bridge car park and follows a sealed track through lush rainforest. Queensland Parks recommends walking the loop clockwise, as this makes the long sets of stairs easier to manage. Along the way, the track passes through dense greenery, with ferns, vines, hoop pines and rainforest trees creating a cool and shaded walking experience.

The highlight of the walk is the Natural Bridge itself, where Cave Creek drops through a hole in the roof of a basalt cave before flowing into the pool below. From the viewing area inside the cave, you can see the waterfall plunge through the rock arch, creating one of the most unique waterfall views in Queensland.

Although the walk is short and graded as Grade 2, there are stairs and some damp sections, so sturdy shoes are recommended. The track can be slippery after rain, particularly around the cave and creek areas. Stay on the formed track, supervise children closely and take care around wet surfaces.

Swimming is not permitted at Natural Bridge. Cave Creek is a restricted access area, with swimming prohibited to protect the glow-worms, the sensitive creek environment and visitor safety. At night, glow-worms can often be seen inside the cave, but visitors should avoid shining torches directly at them, using insect repellent in the cave or making unnecessary noise.

Mobile reception in the Natural Bridge section can be very limited, so download maps before you arrive and check current park alerts before visiting. After heavy rain, parts of the walking track may close for safety, although access to the cave may still be available.

For visitors exploring Springbrook National Park, Natural Bridge Circuit is a must-do short walk. With easy access, ancient rainforest, a cave waterfall and the chance to see glow-worms after dark, it is one of the best short walks in the Gold Coast hinterland.
