Details
Nestled in the limestone mountainside of Mole Creek Tasmania is the amazing Marakoopa Cave. Leading to this cave is a tranquil forest walk, following the Marakoopa Creek. Marakoopa Cave itself is a toured cave meaning that you will need to book a tour time here.
The walk starts from the Mole Creek information centre and heads up to the cave. It is a well-marked boardwalk walk. Due to stairs, it isn’t suitable for prams or wheelchairs. But the walk itself is very easy and suitable for kids.
It should take roughly 30 minutes one way if you take your time. Alternatively, if you are here to see the cave and don’t intend to complete the walk, there is a car park at the top by the cave entrance.
Marakoopa cave is home to glow worms (fungus gnats) and a collection of interesting cave formations.
