London Bridge via Wilsons Folly Track, Portsea

London Bridge via Wilsons Folly Track is a short coastal walk in Portsea, on the Mornington Peninsula. Starting near the dramatic London Bridge rock formation, this walk links the wild ocean coast of Mornington Peninsula National Park with the edge of Point Nepean National Park.

The Wilsons Folly Track is around 1.7 km one way and takes about 40 minutes to complete. If you return the same way, allow around 1 to 1.5 hours for the full walk, with extra time to enjoy the lookout, take photos and explore the surrounding coastal scenery.

The walk begins near London Bridge Road, where a short path leads to views of the famous limestone arch and rugged back beach coastline. London Bridge is one of the most striking natural features near Portsea, with waves, cliffs and weathered rock creating a dramatic coastal scene.

From the London Bridge area, Wilsons Folly Track heads inland through coastal vegetation, including Moonah woodland, coastal banksia and native grasslands. The track provides a quieter contrast to the exposed ocean cliffs, with sections of sheltered bushland and sandy paths leading towards Defence Road and Point Nepean.

Although this is a relatively short walk, the coastal environment can be exposed and conditions can change quickly. Bring sun protection, water and sturdy walking shoes, especially on warm or windy days. Take care around cliff edges, stay on marked tracks and avoid entering closed or unstable areas.

London Bridge is especially scenic in the early morning or late afternoon, when the light picks up the texture of the cliffs and ocean. The beach below can be beautiful to look at, but this part of the coast is exposed to strong surf, changing tides and slippery rock platforms, so check conditions carefully before heading down from the lookout area.

For visitors exploring Portsea, Point Nepean or the Mornington Peninsula National Park coastline, London Bridge via Wilsons Folly Track is a rewarding short walk. It combines a famous coastal landmark, rugged ocean views and a peaceful link through native coastal vegetation, making it a great option for a quick nature walk near Portsea.
