Hassans Walls Lookout, Lithgow NSW
Hassans Walls Lookout is one of the best easy viewpoints in the Blue Mountains region, offering huge views over Lithgow, Hartley Valley and the surrounding escarpments. Located just outside Lithgow, this short lookout walk is a great option if you want big mountain scenery without committing to a long hike.
From the parking area, it is only a short walk along the lookout path to the main viewing platform. The lookout sits around 1,100 metres above sea level, making it the highest scenic lookout in the Blue Mountains. On a clear day, you can see across Mount Wilson, Mount York, Mount Tarana, Mount Blaxland, Kanimbla Valley and Megalong Valley.
The metal boardwalk and viewing platform make this an easy place to enjoy the scenery, take photos and watch the light change across the valleys. Sunrise and sunset are especially beautiful, although the exposed location can be windy and cold, so bring a warm layer.
While the walk itself is very short, take care around cliff edges and stay behind barriers at all times. The access road may be rough in places after wet weather, so drive carefully and check local conditions before visiting.
For visitors exploring Lithgow, Hartley or the western side of the Blue Mountains, Hassans Walls Lookout is well worth the short detour. With easy access and panoramic views, it is one of the best quick lookout stops near Lithgow.
