Hanging Rock
Details
The Burramoko trail is a 10km return hike or bike ride through the picturesque Blue Mountains. The trail, rated as medium difficulty, leads along a ridge to a dramatic rocky bluff, the Baltzer lookout or Hanging Rock, making it an ideal day trip for nature enthusiasts.
Located just off Ridgewell Road in Blackheath, the trail meanders through heathland and open forest, showcasing a variety of flora including red waratahs and creamy-coloured flowering grass trees in spring.
If cycling, park your bike at the trail's end and take a short bush track to the lookout, taking extreme care around the unfenced cliff edge. The lookout offers sublime views of Hanging Rock and the Grose Valley, providing a perfect opportunity to bask in the fresh mountain air and soak up the stunning scenery.
With a return time of approximately 2 hours, the Burramoko trail promises an enjoyable and invigorating day trip for bushwalkers and cyclists.
Due to the dangers involved in hiking with cliffs in the area, it is recommended that you notify someone of your trip and fill out the travellers' log.
