Getting to Fitzroy Falls

Fitzroy Falls can be found in the Morton National Park in the Southern Highlands in the town of Fitzroy Falls. To reach the falls from Robertson, head down Nowra Road. You reach the signs for ‘Fitzroy Falls Carpark’ which will be located on your left. The car park costs $3 per Vehicle per day. Entering to view the waterfalls is free. There is an information centre at the start of the walk, where you begin. This site has bathroom facilities, a cafe at the information centre and also a gift shop.

Starting the walk

Once you’ve passed the information centre there is a track that veers to the left that allows you to view Fitzroy Falls. Leading From the May Lookout which then eventually follows to Warrawong Lookout which is roughly 2.4 km one way. This East Rim Wildflower walk offers beautiful views of the valley below as well as sightings of native Australian bushland and wildlife and views of Fitzroy falls

The main waterfall is easy to access as it is only 150m from the start of the track. From the information centre, you veer right for outstanding views of the falls. While standing on the platform you see the 81-metre drop that is below. The waterfall is exquisite and allows for many photo opportunities of not only the waterfall but also the magnificent Kangaroo Valley that is below. If you decided to view the other waterfalls on the track you will not be disappointed as only a short distance along the track are you able to view Fitzroy Falls from another angle that allows for a long-distance shot of the falls.

Other walks

If you decided to view the other waterfalls on the track you will not be disappointed as only a short distance along the track you are able to view Fitzroy Falls from another angle that allows for a long-distance shot of the falls.
Further along the track, you come to other viewing platforms such as Jersey Lookout and Richardson Lookout.
Richardson Lookout provides you with a view of the main falls once again from another viewpoint but also allows you to see the twin falls which are two waterfalls that are side by side. To reach these falls it shouldn’t take more than 15 minutes. If you are looking to extend the trip there are a few other lookouts which include The Grotto, Starkeys Lookout and Renown Lookout.

To complete the whole West Rim Track to the East you are looking at roughly 4.4km walks which should take you around 2 hours return to complete.

Both East Rim Tracks are great – the West Rim track has more spectacular lookouts, but is busier, especially during holidays. It’s worth taking the short detour to The Grotto. It’s well doing at least the West Rim Track to appreciate the changing views of the falls and the Yarrunga Creek gorge as you follow the escarpment.

The views were STUNNING. Lots of opportunity for exploration. Plenty of plantlife, and signage. Highly recommended.
