This walk for Minnehaha Falls starts from the car park at the end of minni ha ha rd in Katoomba. During summer the carpark becomes quickly filled, so best to come in the morning or you may need to park just up the street. The walk in has several shallow pools with small falls that are suitable for small children at the start of the trail. Picnic tables and a swing are also at the start of the track if you are planning a family day out. If you are are planning on taking the kids to the bottom of the falls please be mindful that it is steep.

Native plants surround the narrow dirt path which clearly directs you most of the way. Small trails will lead you to little swimming spots to splash about with the kids or provides beautiful views above Minnehaha Falls. There is a section where the track veers down to a viewing platform and a trail which continues on, they both meet up eventually. You will notice that the path descends down some stairs which can be painful on the return trip, so pack plenty of water.

The bush walk leads to a spectacular swimming hole as the base of Minnehaha falls, the swimming hole is deep and clear and is the perfect way to cool off during the summer months. There is a platform you can jump off if you are brave enough or take a swing on the rope swing some of the locals have attached. There are plenty of rocks to sunbathe on once you've cooled off from the walk or to sit and have a picnic lunch. Please remember to take all rubbish with you to keep the area in a pristine state. To return to the car, you return on the same path you followed in.

Note: the Minnehaha falls walk is currently closed by the blue mountains council due to safety risks relating to the instability of a rock overhang. You can check the current status here.

Currently Minnehaha Falls is closed for the forseeable future as the track is unstable and due to concerns for falling rocks.

As the track is maintained by the Council not National Parks, updates can be found here: https://www.bmcc.nsw.gov.au/recreation/walking-and-cycling/walking-tracks

If you visit please note there are no toilets so use the public toilets in Barton street on your way in and out. You pass right by then. Too many visitors just use the bush or local residents gardens. If you go to the loo anwhere on the path down to the falls your pee will end up in the stream and the falls. Think about that when you swim. Please also take your rubbish home and park carefully. Minniha road and Fifth Ave are on a bus route and people live there so park leaving space for buses to turn the cirner and residents to get in and out of their homes
