This stunning walk is in the Cradle Mountain National Park in Tasmania. This walk is road accessible and there is the cosy Peppers Cradle Mountain Lodge to stay at while in the National Park which is 1,614 km². The other walks in the area are suitable for a wide range of fitness levels and weather conditions. Pencil Pine Falls walk goes along the beautiful pencil creek and for the entirety of the walk it is boardwalk so it is family friendly. The walk starts directly across from Bitumen road and the Lodge shop (signage will show you the way). Walk through a patch of open heathland and descend into rainforest to the track junction alongside Pencil Pine river. The path continues through gorgeous forest with the sound of the waterfall in the background the whole way. Once you get to the Pencil Pine waterfall the track does continue down to another waterfall. Along this walk you can see gorgeous wildlife including wildflower species native to Tasmania and often you will see echidnas, wombats and wallabies in the bush areas . So if you love cascading waterfalls and relaxing tranquil rivers then you should check this walk out. If you sneak down there is a swimming spot and will provide one of the most invigorating swims of a lifetime but beware of the really cold water. There are several viewing platforms along the walk to get a gorgeous view of the cascading waterfall. If you continue further down the track you will come across Kynvet falls. This took 30 minutes return to do the short walk down taking in this waterfall as well as the closer Pencil Pine Falls. All these walks provide clear signage as to where to go and you will find that around this area there are several other short walks to do that are worth checking out.
