Getting to Minnamurra Rainforest
The walk starts from the Minnamurra Rainforest information centre which is located in Jamberoo Valley. There is plenty of parking at this site however there is a $12 parking fee per vehicle to enter the falls, the walk itself is free. The walks can be done between 9am and 3pm although the walks stay open until 5pm.
Walk 1
There are two walks in the Minnamurra rainforest that you are able to complete, one of which is a loop track. This is graded as easy and is roughly only 1.6kms so should take you under an hour to compete. Here you get to experience the sounds of the beautiful lyrebirds replicating other birds and stalking around the forest. The bridges that extend over the water make for beautiful photos and the large trees make you see the beauty of nature. The loop track starts and ends at the information centre.
Walk 2
The minnamurra rainforest falls walk is 1.3kms one and is a harder walk. This walk should take around 2 hours to complete and does include a very steep walk to reach the falls. It is well worth the walk as once you reach the top you are exposed to three very beautiful and different waterfalls all within a close distance to one another.
The information boards give you a brief history of how the falls have been used over the years and how they are now used purely for sourcing water for those in the local community. Swimming is prohibited within the whole circuit and park rangers are constantly monitoring the area. Although the trek to the top of the falls may hurt, the views are worth it. You can then come back and enjoy a well deserved beverage from the cafe before heading home .
Hi, love this blog, your other articles look so appealing. I have done the boardwalk loop with a 5 year old so great place to take kids. I haven’t done the longer Falls walk. I was hoping you would add a guest post to my cherylinsydney blog to hear about your experience doing that walk. Thanks so much Cheryl
No matter how many times I walk this Subtropical Rainforest I’m rewarded with what I see.
Did this walk (all the way) with friends last weekend. Crowded, lots of people but plenty of room top string out. All ages and abilities, as no steps. Spectacular and beautiful walk. The walkway is a modern engineering marvel. Is there a site or video anywhere that details the construction?
